I really appreciated this link to the article on South African traditions and the constellation work.
I agree, this helps ground some of the ideas and practices of FC.
I agree also that the principles of systemics and phenomenology also ground our work.
I notice some constellation work becomes what I call ‘esoteric’, by which I mean, highly interpretive, and invoking a certain kind of authority whereby the facilitator claims a kind of inside track on reality.
Frankly, I am even a little wary of ideas such as looking down means looking at dead people. I think it might sometimes be a clue, but I like to stay much simpler, and see if the constellation configuration, energy and representatives provides a more direct communication.
So the kind of reference point of South African traditional concepts that is outlined in the article provides a relatively non-esoteric ground for understanding what we see in constellations; it is not only coherent with basic constellation concepts, its clearly the source out of which they come.
I think this kind of going back to basics is of great value, and pulls against the temptation for grandiosity which constellations can be subject to.
