Academic poor results:
Generally, I have seen a loyalty to family members who have not had schooling
themselves or any academic preparation. I then ask the person any of the
following three, or all of them, questions:
a) The dis-similarity question of structural constellations (SySt): If
they succeeded and would obtain good results, to whom in their family would
they stop being similar?
b) The resource question: which person in their system would be really
happy if they succeeded?
c) The problem-solution question: for which situation could the problem be
a (still hidden) solution?

Dear All,
Has anyone looked at what forces may be preventing learners from thriving
in given courses? If learners feel they have given everything and nothing
is changing in doing well, in what ways might I explore how the same
patterns persist? What has worked?
The background is that a particular group of student ('formerly'
disadvantaged, the bulk are single parents now and have been raised by
single parents too, perhaps first in the family to earn a tertiary
qualification). They seem to seem to struggle with Maths-related
courses.............
I value your feedback in however way it will support these learners and my
learning too!
Thank You
Lawrence Ngorora

Hello Everyone,
I have seen only one constellation set up related to the learning of a
course. The individual was struggling to learn the German language. The
representatives brought forward in the constellation that the individual
would not be able to learn the language easily until he took the time to
understand the history and culture of the people. He needed to look to his
own familial relationship with this nation. There had to be acknowledgement,
acceptance, and respect for what was in the past. The individual had to
address any familial or personal judgement of the nation. The learning of the
language would come more easily when there was respect and no judgement.
A week ago I was doing work with a family in Eastern Europe. In the 1940s,
under the rule of Tito in Yugoslavia, there was a law that children had to
attend school from grade 1 to grade 5. I met the father, the oldest living
child of the family (3rd of 11 children, the oldest twins died in infancy),
and a member of the oldest living generation today. He remembers his parents
beating his hands with a wooden spoon when he would attempt to do homework in
the evenings at home. In the next generation his oldest child, a daughter,
struggled with all subjects in school. She remembers her father calling her
stupid all the time. In reality, this woman is quite bright, speaks 3
languages, and she managed to move her family to Canada after 5 years of
living as refugees in the early 1990s. The learning difficulties in childhood
appeared to be systemic. It appeared that there was no ancestral approval to
learn from books. This woman‚s oldest son calls himself a loser and believes
he is intellectually superior to everyone around him. This work was done
informally sitting with the father and daughter. A formal constellation was
not set up but a constellation was evident and in process nevertheless as
they sat near one another. Great movement occurred in this family system as
many dynamics were brought to light. In a formal constellation, there might
be movement if the individual asks permission from the ancestors to be more
or less or different than they were?
I hope this helps in some way.
