Dear Chris et al, I am finding the comments and questions on constellation
work most awesome and interesting. My own work in this regard is still too
young for me to enter the fray. I mostly use the constellation in individual
work where of course it is much more controlled and where the possibility of
ongoing support makes both client and therapist feel safer. I am personally
really grateful that this forum exists and look forward to participating more
fully with time.......Hope to be seeing youat the conference in Wurzburg. For
now warmest greetings from Beulah

I want to thank Otteline for her very clear message.
I am still chewing and digesting it. So far I have found the distinction
between the perspective of the personality and the perspective of the soul very
helpful. After all if there was not a distinction there would not be a problem
with entanglements in the first place.
I feel it very important that people don't feel too embarrassed to mention
difficulties they have had with the work. That is part of the reason I asked
the question the way I did at the end of my last message. Thankyou for
answering it Otteline. I hope some other people will also send in some of their
experiences.
For my part I have had the experience as a representative of being left with
very unpleasant & negative energy for 24 hours after a constellation in Zist in
2001. Bert Hellinger got me out of it. Also, last year a representative in a
constellation I ran had a bad reaction that lasted a week. She was not
psychotic, but like me found the experience very unpleasant. At that time I
contacted Peter And Otteline, who are much more experienced practitioners than
me. I found their advice very helpful. That was part of the reason I
established this talk group.
So I try to be very mindful of what representatives are carrying at the end
of constellations. Even though I believe the greater soul is essentially
benign, it is also clear to me that there is the potential for people to get
hurt.
This discussion reminds me of something Bert Hellinger said in his story "The
Course of Life" on page 112 of his book "Insights":
Some stories dazzle us like mirages. They tempt us to take action far beyond
what is appropriate for us.......................Where such images are
prevalent, it may help to tell the fairy tales soberly and simply in order to
reveal the hidden truth. In this way boundaries are established around our
fantasies and our overpresumptious acts fail. We return to earth and find our
true measure.
hasta la vista

Subject: [ConstellationTalk] More to chew on.
Hello known and unknown friends,
A few more thoughts :
We (Peter and me) think it is important to see that a distinction
should be made in this work between the perspective of the personality
and the perspective of the soul. Usually these two perspectives are
very much in contradiction.
What is seen as harmful from the perspective of the personality (f.i. a
disease) might not be harmful at all from the perspective of the soul.
Actually this is what one can observe regularly during constellations.
Even, such an illness might be an opportunity to get in contact with a
deeper understanding of the Greater Whole.
Standing in a constellation may give me (Otteline) a usefull, even
necessairy insight into the forces of craziness, but in my daily life,
my personality likes to stay healthy and does what is needed for that
as much as possible.
Luckily, "the wisdom of the field", does not choose me so much anymore,
apart from the more sophisticated roles, as being a country f.i.
(smiley!).
The same goes for the word "benefit". If you talk about "benefit" from
which perspective do you perceive this, Sarah? I see a benefit, if
people get more peace and openess in their hearts, which is defenitely
true in many cases. But there is much more in this work, which I cannot
explain, nor even grasp.
This work is not only about love, but also about the deep distortions
of love. There is also the issue of good and evil we have to deal with
on this planet. We both have experienced many evil forces in
constellations during the last eight years since we have been doing
this work . It is also about murderous energy, craziness and great
suffering. And yes Chris, we have seen people (cliënts and
representatives) nearly getting into psychosis. Luckily we (Peter and
me) or other facilitators we have seen working, could keep them "on
the earth" so to speak. But you need the skills to recognize these
signals and know how to react on the spot. We do not know personally
about people who got really psychotic after a workshop.
But we do know several experienced representatives who suffered for
several days rather weird and dangerous reactions after
constellations with very strong and crazy-making forces.
And there is also the experience that you do hard work with the cliënt
and a very 'good' constellation has been done, only to find out some
time later that the illness has passed on to another member in the
system!!
All these experiences make us more humble and with lesser certainty
about what it is all about , these forces we are working with.
Hopefully this is a further contribution to a very usefull discussion.
Warmly,
Otteline Lamet
