I think some of the concern re:evaluations may come from whether they encourage
the participant to distance themselves from the experience and reengage with
the subject/object split - let me get into my analytical self and judge what
happened here, rather than staying quietly with the experience and letting it
unfold. I do think that’s a possibility - I have seen it happen in one
workshop.
However, if the workshop, at least in the US, is offered for CEUs, the granting
body routinely asks for an evaluation, as Karen Carnabucci pointed out early on
in this thread. I liked some of the directions she suggested - how will you
use this after you leave the workshop, etc. I would need to go back to the
beginning of the thread to capture more of what she suggested, but that’s one
direction to go.
Some more useful feedback I’ve gotten is whether or not they liked the venue.
So maybe I will just evaluate that!! I should say that these so far are mainly
workshops, not trainings.

I was reading Stephan Hausner’s Even If It Costs Me My Life today, and in the
appendix there is a nice dialogue with Judith Hemmings. There, she says
something I think is relevant: “Unlike a lot of other intervention
methodologies, [constellations] draws on the lawfulness of systems so that
we’re less in a post-modern fog of ultimate choice, infinite choice: we’re
back in a world where everything has consequences.”
So my question is: What do the Orders of Love say about evaluations, and
feedback in general, whether we are doing trainings, or workshops?
For me, I want a practitioner who is bound to these kinds of orders. I’m not
spectacularly interested in someone who’s beyond consequence. That sounds
kind of unnerving to me…
And I do understand the question about the client process - what helps
forward movement after a workshop? And I am curious why we think evaluations
would be such a obstacle to that? Is there any chance a well-written and
thoughtful evaluation form could actually support that process?
Just some questions from, obviously, the minority view here. ;-)
Peace!

Thnks for adding more points of view and experiences. I want to share that I
also ask for feedback durong the process and "officially" at the end of my
training program. In a workshop to me is important not to know but tu assist
to clarify for the client what do they harvest and take home (and I take few
minutes at the start of the workshop in order to know whate could be a good
result for them).

Barbara and Anngwyn. As usual Barbara when you speak it's the voice of reason

something so intimate seems to me to be an outrageous pursuit! Thanks for
your very sensible comments.
Training is another story but even then I've not used evaluations! We do
address what we'd like to improve it change at the end of a series. Thanks

Hi Anngwyn,
I have never used feedback or evaluation in my workshops. For me that is an
immersion in our personal process and therefore that kind of thinking after
would take something away.
Training for me is a different issue. I did this time ask my trainees to
gather in small groups in the final module and offer feedback on specific
issues around the structure, content of the training. They found reviewing
everything a useful process in itself and some of the feedback was helpful
for me in forward planning.
Warm wishes to all

Hi Anngwyn…
I didn’t know that Bert said that! and I agree with his statement...
I also don't use evaluation forms anymore for the last few years in my
workshop or training…
For me is completely unnecessary as “idealising” or” judging” is the
mind/ago projection ….
the Field brings up whatever is necessary and any feedback is projection
afterwards..
Thanks…Maria

Hello Everyone !
I am wondering about current practices of issuing evaluation forms for
seminars ,intensives and other training events. Some time ago I seem to
remember that Bert was totally against this and I have not used them in
any of my trainings either and yet some seem to feel that they are
necessary. Any thoughts?
