Hi all,
I have noticed for some time that the senior German constellators are able
to move through their constellations faster towards the end of workshops. I
was never quite clear how they did it. I figured some of it was do to their
ability to harness the increasing cohesion of the group as the workshop
progressed.
In my last workshop I felt the need to attempt this with my last
constellation as time was running short. First I flagged the short time
available with the client and the group and warned that I may stop the
constellation short of a resolution when I felt some movement had occurred.
In this way I tried to manage expectations & may also have primed the group
to be more focussed.
I felt a strong connection to the field in the interview. So instead of my
usual strategy of setting up the minimum number of representatives and
waiting to see where the energy went, I set up the relevant people from the
client's nuclear family plus the father's former lover and the forgotten
child (half brother of the client) right from the start. This was where I
felt the relevant entanglement was. ( The constellation confirmed this) I
then requested much less verbal feedback from the representatives and relied
much more on their nonverbals which I could observe. I commented on these to
make my work transparent. What was potentially a complicated and long
constellation reached a good resolution in about 35 minutes without feeling
rushed. I was very pleasantly surprised.
I am aware that working in this way could have a number of pitfalls, for
example narrowing your attention too soon. I am curious what experiences -
positive and negative - people have had in working in this way. I am hoping
feedback will help me to build on this experience in a positive way.
