Happy New Year to all. I spent it chanting, which was a totally blissful way to
move into another turn of the wheel.
I want to make a few comments about this interesting discussion.
Firstly, I have actually considered FC to be very accessible to 'ordinary
folk', who have no experience of therapy, groupwork, etc. The format is indeed
strange to such people, but I find they can enter into it very easily after a
short period of time.
Secondly, I actually like the weird language from Hellinger. Language is such a
great topic - the way it constructs our world. I find his terms to be jarring
in a way which invites us to stop and consider taken for granted meanings, to
gain new perspectives and to redefine experience. Like any field, there is the
creation of a lexicon, which in itself creates insiders and outsiders. But then
it also offers a view on the universe, which is special to that field. Thats
how I see the language used in FC. I like the stilted formality of it. Its so
different than the way we normally speak. So, theres a vote for strange German
translations!
And as for making a living - thats hard from any type of therapeutic work,
unless theres some kind of subsidy (insurance etc) involved. I don't think FC
work is alone in that regards.
