That is strange, try as Sean suggested and make a subfolder and put it in
there. If that doesn't work I'd try a reinstall.
Uninstall and wipe out all xln Audio and/or addictive Drums data, then try
again.

That didn't work I noticed that their is sfpack files in the xln audio
adictive drums folder do I need to download the sfpack application and
extract them and reinstall the plugin?

Did you do a scan? Try going to the cakewalk plugIn manager and force a vst
scan, see if it shows up in there. Sometimes with these plugs that require
registration, the plug won't show up or can't be correctly scanned till you
activate it or install the product correctly. Make sure that you loaded the
data that goes with it, the pak files etc.
The plugIn manager is under tools in sonar.

I'm using sonar 8.5.3 producer and it is installed to c program files x86
cakewalk vst plugins and I'm using windows 7 64 bit with the 32 bit version
of sonar.
