Hey Steve!
You can create any template you wish, which you can either launch from Sonar
itself, or from a location of your choosing...
When you've created your preferred set-up, just either save the template to
a location of your choosing, or save it to the default location of Sonar's
"Sample Content" folder.
Just make sure you save the file as:
Normal.cwt
It must be written verbatim as above.
But, it must be named as above only if you decide to save it to the sample
content folder, or as the default template that opens up every time you open
Sonar from your desktop icon!

I'm one of these people that likes programs to initialize in certain
environments, manners, or behaviors, so I put a heavy emphasis on
templating. I'd like to have Sonar come up with a different kind of
track arrangement than the default. In particular, I'd like the first
5 tracks to be assigned to MIDI channels 1 to 5 on my first interface,
the next four tracks to be assigned to channels 6-9 on my second
interface, then back to my first interface for channel 10. What about
channels 11-16, you may ask? Unassigned at this point, but having the
first ten pre-assigned would be absolutely grand every time I open a
new project. Frankly, I'd also prefer the audio tracks be at the
bottom of the list, but that's not a show-stopper if it can't be done.
Can someone please explain, if this is possible, how to do it?
Whilst I await the replies, I'll go looking around and may discover it
myself, but in thirteen hours yesterday, I did not find it. Granted,
my head was in a different place in the program and I had other demons
to kill, but that's behind me now and I'm ready to move forward to my
next phase.
