no thats varry true. a lot of rock records that hav acoustic the guitar sounds some what cheep. i hav i hav not ben able to get that sound from my taylor. so i got myself a $100 guitar, worked the discording out of it, and dont use close mike placement whin i record it. but on the other hand for a true and grate sound from an acoustic guitar, you cant use a 57. evin whin i play live, i dont use a 57. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Christer" <mc3203@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 02, 2006 6:44 AM Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Good guitar mic. Hey Shawn! I know what you mean about an SM 57 not being good for recording acoustic guitars, but this is not strictly true! If used in combination with a C1000, for instance, a great sound can be achieved. It is totally subjective! If you want to record a beautiful Taylor or Lowden, playing a touching phrase or something very sensitive, then an SM 57 ainn't the mike for you, but, if you want to record someone thrashing a Takamine, then the 57 is just the ticket! Not trying to be argumentative, just giving the benefit of my experience...
