Hi there your problem may be that that sound card has been installed but
that the dealer didn't install the drivers correctly.
Asuming you have configured your system properly, The first thing to do is
the following
1. open up the start menu by pressing the windows key or control plus
escape,
2. hit s until you hear Jaws say Settings,
3. you should have the control panel highlighted, just press enter on this
item,
4. press s until you hear Jaws say system, and hit enter,
5. press control tab until you hear Jaws say the system page,
6. tab until you hear Jaws say Device manager, and hit the space bar to
select this option,
7. you should see a list of system items at this point, arrow down until you
hear Jaws say Other devices, and hit the right arrow to expand this tree
view,
8. if you hear the that emu card is there simply delete this item, and
restart your system, and have your drivers disk ready to re install the
card,
9. at this point when your system has been restarted, insert the Drivers cd,
and when the hardware wizard comes up, follow the prompts to re install the
card, and you should be set at this point.
If all failes, then you may have a IRQ issue where the Realtech is
conflicting with your high end sound card, if this is the case, I would get
your self a sound blaster livee card, and install it along with your high
end sound card. I have had instances where this was the case with the
Realtech cards.
Hope this info helps.

Hi, Patrick
I think that someone has to enable the onboard sound card from the bios
level. Not sure what that means, but technicians seem to know what that's
all about, and I'm sure someone far more knowledgeable than I could explain
it far better.

Subject: [ddots-l] Hardware / Soundcard problem pls. help!
meHello all together,
I have an very technical problem here. I think that may be noone can helpproblem.here but because I think that everyone who can not order an accessible dancingdots workstation for what ever reson may run into that sameanThat's why I post this and hopefuly to get an solution.
The wole problem is about adding an sekend soundcard to the system I mean"Realtekhighend soundcard for Music produktion for Sonar.
Please also see an description of Hardware used in my system below.
I have 2 Soundcards here that I need to use. The lo end card is antheAC.97 Audio"onboard soundcard. The 2th is an Emu 18 20 M. Both cards have been installed by my dealer but onestly I do not think if he has checkedhighend card if it works proberly. So I got the system; installed Jaws andthe
in the controlpanel there is only showing the Realtek soundcard and notisEmu 18 20 M.
What I found out after talking with a lot support people is that Windowsfornot supporting multiply Soundcards. But I know that there must be a way because the Dancingdots systems have 2. I need this 2 cards because onetheJaws talking output and the other for the music thinks. So the first question is how that works that I can have this 2 cards working?
Do I need an other highend soundcard as the Emu?
By talking to a few support people here in Germany I also found out thatOnboard soundcard can not run with an 2th sound card. I do not know ifthisforis true but it has given me an other idear here: What if I disable the Onboard sound in the Bios and after that install the Emu card again andthe Jaws talking I connect an USB-head set that I have here. That may bethesolution I think. What do you all think and know about such solutions and
problems? I think everyone runs into that same problem because we all need
an 2th sound card for the Jaws talking.
I need your help / comments / suggestions and if an technical person reads
this then an technical atvice please:-)
