Haven't done it myself, but try this:
1. Import the audio tracks to sonar from cd. Each track should be on its own
audio track.
2. Set the pan of all those tracks to the side that has the performance track.
3. At this point, the audio will be coming from 1 speaker only, but it should
be just the performance track.
4. This is the part I haven't tride, but if you want the track to come through
on both speakers, set the master buss to mono, see if that brings it to the
center. I'm not at the studio now so can't verify if such trick would work, but
if you try it before I can, report back, just in case anyone else might be
wondering the same thing.
If that doesn't work I have a few other ideas on how to do it, but this one
might be the easiest.
Alternatively, this process will be much easier if you have sound forge on your
system; even a demo.
You just load the file, use tab to switch to the channel you don't want, select
all of it using ctrl+a or ctrl+shift+end, go to process, mute, and that channel
should disappear. Now, to get the reaming material to the center, use tab again
to enable both channels,do a ctrl+A tto select all, and use the process>channel
converter to conver from stereo to mono; use the stereo to mono (100%) preset.
The track shouldn't clip, since 1 of the channels has no content in it. If the
track does clip for some reason, use the stereo to mono 50%, and normalize the
track to 0db to bring the valume back up at a safe level with no clips.

I have a vocal work-out CD with split tracks, where the accompaniment is on one
side and the vocals on the other. The school uses Garage Band and shows how to
drop the vocals out, then burn just the accompaniment to CD so the student can
have h/is own custom work-out CD with the tracks that best suit h/im.
How can I do this with Sonar? I am Macless, so have no access to Garage Band.
