OK, I haven’t tried this but it should work. On the kick drum track,
go to the prefade postfade button on your send that is assigned to the
compressor. If you press it so that it shows prefade then you should
be able to mute the kick drum without the sound of the pad
disappearing.

If you want to have your pad track with the sidechain effect as one
actual audio track. Go to the track with the pad on, and apply audio
effects. You can select whether you want the effect to be deleted or
not. In this case you will want the effect deleted otherwise it will
be duplicated, unless of course you then disable your send and remove
the compressor from the pad afterwards. If you don’t know how to get
to the “apply audio effects” option, its in the menu that you add
effects to a track destructively. I can’t remember the alt short cut,
but I go into it by pressing alt and E then press cursor right then
you scroll down till you hear “apply audio effects”.

Hope this helps. Its amazing how much more difficult it is to talk
through what I do on a daily basis. Normally I just do these things
without thinking.

Ok, I have it. But I have one more question. How to mute the kick so that I will be still able to hear this effect on the pad? Or how to export the pad
to audio with this effect but without the kick?

Well, if you assign the track output to the compressor then you won’t
be able to hear the kick drum. You need to use the track send option.
If control applications key doesn’t work with ct then hopefully
someone will be able to give you the Ct function to get to the “insert
send” option.

Hi, well everytime I have done it I’ve used postfade. You might as
well stick with 0 DB I’d imagine if that’s the level your happy with
originally, otherwise you’ll probably end up driving the mix to
distortion. The trick is to mess around and see what you’re happy
with.

OK thank you.

Did you looked in to your project? you find a new output in the
audiotracks wich goes to the sidechain.
but I don#t know how to work with it correct.

So sidechain freaks, - please, can you tell ralf and me how to work
with sidechains?
regards, Robert.
