Out of curiosity, which updates in specific are breaking sonar/ct? I haven't
seen any out of the norm behavior with the latest updates, but i'm curious if
you have.

Okay I'd better chime in here.
The whole discussion keeps on comeing back to this list on the discussion on
whether Mac is better than PC.
I'm not here to bash On whether the Mac is better Than the PC, however, they
both have differences in their environments and there are changes unfortunately
it's the honest to goodness truth Windows 7 is not going to be around forever
unfortunately..
Agreed with DJX that there is a learning curve in learning the Mac, its a
matter of getting use too.
Logic Pro in the last couple of days also is growing, and we now have access to
the most common things like event list editing, patching instruments, routing
effects, cutting pasting and copying audio regions, and mixing are all
accessible to Logic Pro since the last couple of days.
Even shortcut keys like the letter S solo and muting tracks with the letter M
is all done.
Unfortunatly folks and this is the honest truth, Nothing is going to compare
with CT because no other DAW software in accessible is going to compare to CT
unfortunatly.
The point is and you have to ask yourself this question, we need to move ahead,
and despite some limitations to both Logic Pro, GarageBand Protools one can
still produce great sounding work.
Agreed with DJX that you need to spend some time at an Apple Store getting use
to the OSX, however at some point you need to jump ship, because like said even
with Windows 10 is not like windows 7 unfortunatly,
You cannot compare the Mac. Because the Mac works differently then the pc.
Nevil and this is not to bash CT because I still love it on my Windows 7 system
however
Even the newest updates that are coming out with Windows 7.
Are causing certain Plug-ins in CT and sonar not to function.
I know Neville that you're having a hard time trying to choose what you want to
go but the best advice I can give you is think about it and do some shopping
and whatever you decide I and everyone here on List are here to support you
, My Mac has never given me any problems whatsoever in the last six years.
Everything works beautifully not perfectly but beautifully. I don't regret
going the Mac and using Logic Pro with GarageBand and ProTools,
And love windows 10 so far
And I'm starting to use Samplitude too and look forward in training my
customers and clients.
Neville, and this goes for everyone on the list,
When considering a system Take your time and make the best purchase that
you can for the budget that you have and what you need that's the most
important thing

New macs can't run windows 7, so in that sense, your dualboot would have to be
with windows 8.1 and up, unless you got an older mac. That might throw a
wrench in your keeping sonar plans. There are other ways to dualboot macOS and
win7, but that's a discussion outside this scope :)
You also want to be aware of hardware upgrade limitations on macs, and Apple's
ecosystem locks. I'm not bashing macs either, just pointing out some things you
might want to be aware of. Macs are good machines, though in my opinion and
evaluation as a tech, overpriced for what they offer in terms of power and
performance.
There's also the operating system changes between windows and mac, and
something to get use to. I use both systems and can tell you the differences
can make it or break it for you and depending on your needs and your expected
use. But discussing os differences would be a bit OT for the list. My advice,
if you want to consider the purchase of a mac, spend a considerable/good amount
of time (E.G. Hours) at an apple store using mac os. Use it the way you expect
your system to be used, see if it meets your expectations. macOS is not the
same as iOS, and neither is accessibility. This is a common misconception many
people have when they jump ships; unfortunately some realize this truth when
they notice the ship is full of water and sinking, and the old ship is long
gone... :)
Regarding daw software,
As far as i know, logic, garageBand are usable on the mac, and pro tools is
making great strides. notice I used the word usable, as it can be used,
regardless of how extensive the usability is. I didn't say acxessible, since
for the most part, that word means different things to different people in
terms of accessibility and the expectation thereof.

Hey guys,
My Daw has been dead for the past two weeks. I just had it confirmed to me
yesterday. Looks like I had a power surge while I was out of town that fried my
motherboard.
I have been considering switching to Mac for a while and now seems like as good
a time as any. However I realize that Learning the Mac Environment and whatever
DAW I choose will take a while. I want to keep sonar around so that I can
continue working on my old projects if I need to and most likely, I will need
to get into them every once in a while.
I have heard about duel boot systems from those on this list, but I really
don't know much about them or if a system like that would meet my needs. I
would really appreciate any advice from those who are seasoned users of duel
boot systems. I would also appreciate advice from you Mac users on what kind of
DAW should I get, what are the specs on the system I should be looking out for
and any accessibility issues I may encounter.
