[ddots-l] Latency issues with soft synths in Sonar

Hi Folks.

I'm having a bit of a technical difficulty with 1 of my projects concerning
adding soft synths to a project after recording some audio tracks.

I have recently recorded some live drums for this project, and am now
working on a bass part for the song. For this process I'm using Dimension
Pro, but I have also tried it with SFz with the same results.

Basically the sound is responsive whenever I hit a key on the midi
controller as usual, yet when I run the piece so as to record the bass part,
there is a slight semi second delay between my pressing the key, and the
sound coming through occurs. This is irritating obviously, and it is kind've
throwing me out. Can anyone recommend any remedies to eliminate this
problem? I use sonar 8.5.3 with cake talking 8.8, with a Roland a800 61 key
midi controller keyboard and a Roland studio capture audio interface.

Cheers, Nick.

Hey Greg,

I still have JAWS 16 on the system along with 17. Until I hear that things
will work with 17, that's the way it's going to stay. I didn't take the
plunge and install HSC into 17. Right now I'm only using HSC for Sonar
related stuff. Bill reiterated that Dancing Dots isn't supporting 17 in
terms of the CakeTalking scripts. I'm having no problem with 16 and
CakeTalking on my 64-bit Windows 7 system. It certainly helps immensely to
have that 8-GB of ram.

Hey Phil I got everything on my external and my laptop is working perfectly
now. I think what happened was when I installed jaws 17 to try out it
messed things up. I'm glad I got it back working again with jaws 14. Thats
a lot of money for getting a hard drive recovered and I sure don't want to
have to do that.
