Latency & echoing are definite problems with input monitoring. Echoing can be cured by muting the inputs of your sound card. But, latency, no matter how low you set the latency slider in Audio Options will always give some lag between playing a note and hearing it-really screws up your performance unless you can get used to that delay effect. A high latency setting causes a significant delay, but, if you set the latency slider too low in an attempt to diminish the lagtime, you'll get audio dropouts-screwed either way.

I use WDM drivers, and this has been my experience with input monitoring.

Wolfgang
In order for you to hear the effects in realtime, you must turn on input echo.
Right arrow through your tracks, until you get to a button that says input echo. By default it is off. press enter to turn it on.

Hello cakeTalkers,

with destructive as well as with non-destructive effects I did not find a way to let them sound while recording. That means, I have to use the guitar "dry" and only then insert the distortion effect. However, it sure is a difference playing it with or without hearing the distortion effect. Of course, I could use an External machine for that. I just think there must be something I didn't realize with sonar so far.

Can anyone give some help?

Thanks in advance!

Wolfgang
