Guys,
Problem solved. Had a conversation with Gordon and he suggested I test the
MIDi cable running from OUT on the interface to IN on the Triton. That was the
problem. Changing out a MIDi cable fixed everything. File this under the
title page of my best selling tech manual:
Press the Reset Button, (Volume XII, Revised edition.)
Thanks,
Kevin

Guys,
Here’s an interesting problem. As you may know, My wife and I have been
reassembling my studio. All has been pretty cool. Unfortunately, I have one
small problem. My Korg Triton, which is my master controller, is not giving
me sound in Sonar when local echo is set to off. Historically, I’ve had
local echo off for at least the past 12 years without issues. But last
night, I fired up my rig without connecting my iLock and Vienna Dongles and
that caused some problems until I remembered to reconnect them. At that
point, I had not connected audio cables to the Korg and hadn’t given much
thought to sound from the Korg.
Tonight, when I finally connected the audio to the Korg, I got no sound in
SONAR. First, I thought maybe the audio interface was failing. But, I
turned Local Echo on and heard the Korg loud and clear through the speakers.
Then, I noticed that my Korg was not responding to MIDi program change
messages sent either by SONAR or by scrolling through programs locally on the
machine when in Sequencer Mode, the mode I’ve always used when working with
SONAr. Any idea what could be wrong? Further work has revealed that the
Korg responds to program changes locally with local echo on and the Korg in
Combi or Program mode. The problem seems to only be in sequencer mode.
