Rod if you have had your unit for eight months I wouldn't start messing with
putting in different screws, and washers, as this might void your warrantee.
I would bring in the unit to your retail store, and have them fix it up.
If all fails Yamaha is obligated to repair the unit to its customers
satisfaction, or replace it at no charge to you.

Lock washers are washers that have little cuts in the washers to grip into the metal. Their very thin and don't do any damage and you can get them at most good hardware stores such as Ace Hardware Stores. Just bring one of your screws from the Motif to the store and one of those amazing people will help you to find the right one out of the 100,000 items they carry!
