i am sure hardly none of our judgements would carry any public weight <smile>

Contentious issue this. Lol.

Who sets the benchmark between what is good and what is rubbish?

For example, my partner Dawn likes a hell of a lot of music that I consider
awful because it is poorly played, sound quality is naff etc etc, but she
likes it, it obviously hits the right notes, scuse the punn, with her. So,
who the hell am I to judge on what is rubbish?

Now, this may be just a case of having no musical ear, which is kind of
blown out of the water because she loves a lot of classical and more
sophisticated stuff like Nightwish, DREAM theater etc.

My conclusion? She likes what she likes and sod what anyone else thinks.

On the other hand, she hates some of the stuff that I like, example, Level
42, because she says it's sterile lift music.

Bringing it back to the present and previous messages. Who's going to set
the standard? I think we can only set the standards for ourselves and do
the best we can.

Just throwing it out there as a talking point. I happen to believe that
there is a heck of a lot of crap out there too, but I suspect that my
judgement wouldn't carry a lot of weight with the buying public.

Cheers
Darren
