You do but you can also do this in the plug-in manager as well.

  You scan vst's under options, global settings and the VST plug-ins tab. You 
then add the folder where the plug in resides you want to scan and hit the scan 
button.

    I've tried that before, but I find that in sonar 8 you can't scan vst plugs 
 when using the application externally.

    Mike, since it's an external utility, you will have better luck accessing 
it outside of Sonar rather than inside. Some of the buttons aren't labeled, but 
most things will read just fine with Jaws. Inside the cakewalk folder, go to 
share utilities. In there, is the plug-in manager.chm file and the plug-in 
manager executable.

      Duzz anyone know how to use the plug-in manager in Sonar 8?  

      I can't find any info anywhere...  

      If I try to utilize the quote help quote button when actually in the 
plug-in manager, the linx don't work?
