I think you have to instruct sonar to send out timeclock info first. Project
options.

Hi I have external hardware that I want to sinc to sonars midi clock. How
do I get this to work. I have tried setting the internal clock to slave on
the roland mc 909 groove box but it didn't work. I'm using Sonar to record
everything in.
