I'd like to know how i could make that work with my system? I want to do piano on line but i'm not sure how to go about it! Ho should i start and can i have as an example, a classroom type of setting where the students all each have a keyboard and semular equipment? How many students should i start with in terms of the class room idea of teaching piano. I also want to teach different levels of piano from the beginner to the advanced players! I would appreciate any thaughts or suggestions that you might have. ----- Original Message ----- From: "D!J!X!" <megamansuperior@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Chris, I teach online piano lessons in a similar format, I personally use a
laptop (high-end) to run skype and use an old tascam US122 to input the
audio from my daw, which has my keyboard and other things. I also use this
setup though be it more advanced, when I do online tutoring on stuff like
sonar or sound forge etc. I can work on the daw, explain things, and the
student gets to hear all including results. For piano lessons, the extra
power and free resources of the laptop allows me to run video for sighted
students who want to see and hear.
This is an option if you have an extra comp/interface, or if not, since you
have a saffire, have you tried/experimented with the virtual i/o? Maybe
setting the input to skype, and sonar's output to the virtual outs? Latency
might be a concern, but if we're speaking about the system you had built
last year, that should run that with no probs.
Then you can mix your mic and guitar with effects on tracks on sonar, turn
input echo on, and have sonar send the outs into skype.
I thought about this kind of setup when I obtained my pro40, but since I've
already got my rig going, and because my daw is completely offline and
because of the video requirement for sighted students, I opted to leave it
as is... If it aint broke, don't fix it! LOL.

Hi folks.

I teach guitar, and until now, have never really considered teaching over
Skype.
I have a decent microphone, but I would love to run some of my guitar gear
direct into my audio interface, and mix that in with my voice on Skype.
Has anybody tried this using something like Virtual Audio Cable and their
DAW?

I guess I'm wondering if Skypes advanced feedback killing routines and other
things they do to the audio automatically will pose problems.

Chris
