Hello, Fr. Tim and welcome to this list.

Did you install CakeTalking with the default template? That template uses
the TTS soft synthe. You can assign the output of a MIDI track to a soft
synthe.

I do not have a copy of that Downtown project on my system. But try the
following and let us know if it worked for you. If it does not, contact me
off-list using my info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx address and give me your current
phone number. We'll make a time to talk.

* Open the Downtown project

* ALT+I, to open Insert menu.

* Arrow down to Soft Synthe and hit ENTER.

* Arrow down to cakewalk TTS and hit ENTER.

* The Insert Soft Synthes dialog will display. Press ENTER.

Press ALT+F4 to close the dialog for the TTS.

* Move to track 1 of the project.

* Press SHIFT+O O to move to the output column.

* Press ENTER and arrow down to Cakewalk TTS. Press ENTER.

If I gave you those steps correctly and you followed them correctly, the
instrument on that track will now play through the cakewalk TTS soft synthe.
The output of the TTS goes through your audio interface so you will need to
have that amplified.

Again, we can help you over the phone if none of this is making sense.

Regards,
Bill

Subject: [ddots-l] Soft Synth as General Midi Output?

Hello,

When I play the "Downtown" midi demo with Sonar 8 Producer,
I use my computer's soundcard as the midi output. I am not satisfied with
the quality of the sounds. Is there any way I can make a soft synth
available as a midi output option?

Thank you for any help you can give me. I am new to all of this.

Sincerely,

Fr. Tim
