[ddots-l] Still wondering

Still trying to find out How to set the length of a pattern. I thought it was
record mode, right arrow 3 times, and use decrease and increase to set the
length. That isn't working for me. I tried down arrowing once and then right
arrowing 3 times, with no better result.
Can anyone help me with this?
If it's to complicated to write down, I'd be happy to call you, and even pay
for a little tech support. I'd just like to know how to do this basic thing.
