Phil,
File the following solution under that famous yet to be published magnum
opus, "Press the Reset Button" (Volume XII, Revised Edition.) I at least
have Sonar 5 running. The solution in this case was to delete and recreate
TTSSEQ.INI. I still can't get Sonar 6 to run. For that, I'll have to call
Carl Jacobson and get an unlock code because I was given an eval copy from
him. I didn't realize this. In any event, Sonar 5 works fine. Even Port
1, which doesn't work when all apps are closed, does work when Sonar 5 is
open. So, that means I can get the last gasp of breath out of my Unitor 8
MKII. I'll have to trash it when I move to a Vista based computer because
eMagic no longer exists. However, that's just the way it goes.

Phil replied: When you install Sonar, you have a serial number and
registration code. If your running the full version of Sonar 6 then, it
will come up with a screen that displays your serial number, and tells you
to authorise it. You would see your serial number on screen in a read edit
field. You then tab over to the registration code filed and paste it. If
it's a demo or some other kind of version your running then, you will end up
with what you are describing.

Phil replied: there is a known issue with the Tascam 1884 where Jaws will
need reauthorizing. I know that several people including Bill and Tim
Burgess, have tried to get JFW users to run a JFW utility that gathers
information to fix this particular issue. If enough of you FW users run
this utility then, the information can be passed back to FS so that they can
fix this issue.

than it had been in the old house. Actually, I did fire the computer up
just to se if it would boot up before I connected all my audio devices. So,
that might account for that problem a la the Tascam 1884 SNAFU. Whatever
the case, it still ticks me off.
2. This is the more important problem. I'm not getting two way
communication in either Sonar 5 or Sonar 6 with my current rig. If I'm at
the desktop with no apps running, I can hear my Triton keyboard play. Local
is off. However, when I fire up Sonar 5, the only one that will run, see
above, I don't hear any sounds from my MIDI keyboards. I have enough vision
to see that I am getting lights on my MIDI IN, but nothing on my MIDI OUT.
Also, none of my soft synths will play.. AS you might expect, when I'm at
the desktop with no apps running, I will see all the MIDI OUT lights flash
when every note is played. That suggests that the hardware is working
normally. However, I should hear both my Triton keyboard and my Kurzweil
K2500R play in that situation. The Korg plays but the Kurzweil does not and
I don't see any MIDI activity lights on the Kurzweil, which I should.
For the record, Sibelius does seem to function fine. It did say
that my MIDI devices had changed when I first fired it up, but quickly
choosing devices brought the expected results.
Last, both my versions of Cake Talking, for both Sonar 5 and Sonar
6, as well as Sibelius Speaking are now claiming to be uppercased copies.
Albert, if you're reading along, can you e-mail me the authorization codes I
need to bring my CT and SS copies back from the dead? That would be Sonar
5, Sonar 6 and Sibelius 3.
