Gord,
Like I explained. hosing and recreating the TTSSEQ.INI file, solved the
problem as far as Sonar 5 is concerned. My copy of Sonar 6 is some kind of
evaluation copy that timed out. I'll have to get in touch with
Carl on that one.
For some reason, when I'm at the desktop withb no apps running, playing
a note on the synth will result in seeing activity lights on all OUT ports
except port 1. However, after rebuilding the TSSEQ.INI file, when Sonar 5
is open, all the ports work, including port 1 and all my VSTs. No idea why.

I've actually had to rebuild the file before. Where is the TTSSEQ.INI
file in Sonar 6. Couldn't find it. Or, was it hosed when my evaluation
timed out. That doesn't make sense but.... Maybe I'll just skip to 7 in a
minute.
K.

Kevin:
It's been a while since I've used the unitor 8, but there may be two
possible issues here. First, in the midi devices dialog in Sonar, don't
check the entry in the outputs that says something like unitor all. I don't
know what that is for, but it may be causing a problem. Now the other issue
may be more of a problem. I don't think that EMagic has updated drivers for
the unitor 8 for quite some time. As I siad, I haven't tried using mine for
quite a while. Maybe it doesn't work properly under sp2 or something. And
of course there could be a hardwre failure issue. I do have the unitor8
connected to my older daw, which is the one that has sebilius on it. It
just so happens that I have to use Sibelius to write some choral parts out
in the next few days, so I guess I'll be getting it back up. I'll let you
know what happens.

Gord,
I did reauthorize JAWS on the web. Doing this with JAWS 8 also unlocked
JAWS 7 without having to reauthorize JAWS 7 separately. Doing this, solved
the problem of SS and CT thinking that they were unpurchased copies. At
least Sibelius works perfectly and I can navigate through Sonar 5 fine.
Interestingly, my main problem still exists. I can't get two way
communication while Sonar 5 is running. I can't even run Sonar 6 because,
Sonar 6 thinks I have a time trial that has expired. I have to talk to Carl
Jacobson about that. However , even with Sonar 5, I can't get any MIDI OUT
traffic with my interface. The interface is my old Unitor 8. I've noticed
that, when I'm at the desktop with no music apps running, if I pres a note,
all the MIDI OUT lights will flash except for port 1. I didn't notice this
until Pam moved my cable on the MIDI OUT side of the interface from port 1
to any other port. In any other port, the Kurzweil K2500R to which that
cable is connected would sound and its MIDI activity light would flash. I
have checked the connections thoroughly and I am sure that they are solid.
Another problem is that none of my VSTs seem to play. I think this is
more a problem concerned with the loss of MIDI OUT. Would wiping out the
TSSSEQ.INI file and having Cakewalk rebuild it have any value here?
Finally, is there any MIDI mapping I can investigate in Sonar that might
exclude port 1 or something?
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin:
Does your jaws ask you to authorize? Of course you know that you can't run
Jaws in demo mode. What kind of midi interface are you using?

Dear All,
After four months, and a Far East Tour, I finally have the studio
back up, sort of. The problems are these:
1. Both JAWS 7 and 8 say that they are in demo mode. Also, while Sonar 5
will come up, Sonar 6 goes to time trial mode which has expired. I had a
product registration code in my e-mail for Sonar 6 but that appears not to
be the same as an activation code, or vice-versa. I guess I fired the
machines up with some piece of hardware configured just slightly differently
than it had been in the old house. Actually, I did fire the computer up
just to se if it would boot up before I connected all my audio devices. So,
that might account for that problem a la the Tascam 1884 SNAFU. Whatever
the case, it still ticks me off.

2. This is the more important problem. I'm not getting two way
communication in either Sonar 5 or Sonar 6 with my current rig. If I'm at
the desktop with no apps running, I can hear my Triton keyboard play. Local
is off. However, when I fire up Sonar 5, the only one that will run, see
above, I don't hear any sounds from my MIDI keyboards. I have enough vision
to see that I am getting lights on my MIDI IN, but nothing on my MIDI OUT.
Also, none of my soft synths will play.. AS you might expect, when I'm at
the desktop with no apps running, I will see all the MIDI OUT lights flash
when every note is played. That suggests that the hardware is working
normally. However, I should hear both my Triton keyboard and my Kurzweil
K2500R play in that situation. The Korg plays but the Kurzweil does not and
I don't see any MIDI activity lights on the Kurzweil, which I should.

For the record, Sibelius does seem to function fine. It did say
that my MIDI devices had changed when I first fired it up, but quickly
choosing devices brought the expected results.

Last, both my versions of Cake Talking, for both Sonar 5 and Sonar
6, as well as Sibelius Speaking are now claiming to be uppercased copies.
Albert, if you're reading along, can you e-mail me the authorization codes I
need to bring my CT and SS copies back from the dead? That would be Sonar
5, Sonar 6 and Sibelius 3.

Thanks,
Kevin
