Last week I asked a question about changing the tempo of a song in the Motif
Es. Here's the answer.

Inserting a tempo change

In Song mode press:

1. Record (buttons to the right of the faders. 1st button on the left,
bottom row), then F1 (two rows
under the LCD. Bottom row, button all the way to the left).
2. Use the right directional button (just below the data wheel, on the
right, middle button) and go to
Rec. track (3 presses to the right, press the 'up' directional 3 times).
3. Turn data wheel counterclockwise until tempo's displayed (two full
circles).
4. Press edit/F5 c
5. 001:1:000 120.0 will be displayed (the curser defaults to the first
3 numbers, for measure).
6. The first 3 numbers are the measure, the middle number's the beat,
and the last 3 numbers are the
gate.
7. 120 is the tempo to be adjusted. Use the inc / dec buttons to adjust
to the desired measure (both
are offset, just below the data wheel. Each button press lowers or raises
the measure by 1).
8. Use the directional buttons and go to 120.0 (3 directional buttons
presses to the right) and use the
inc / dec buttons to adjust to the desired tempo (both are offset, just
below the data wheel. Each
button press lowers or raises tempo 1 beat per minute).
9. When ready press F6 ONE TIME to set the PC in place (under the LCD
again, bottom row, first from
the right). No reaction from the Motif is displayed, so if you press F6 more
than once more than on
PC will be inserted.
10. Press the exit button (3 inches to the right of the F6 button) when
finished, and now your tempo
change has been inserted.

To insert more than one tempo change repeat steps 8 and 9 until finished. It
isn't required to enter a
change, back out of the tempo change screen, just to go back in to create a
new tempo change. If you know
which measures you need the changes in, simply set the measure number, tempo
change, then F6.

Okay, so then, what you'd need to do is set up what is called a master.
This is not one of the modes I am familiar with, however, so I'm afraid I'm
not able to give you specific instructions as to how to achieve your
particular goal.

I can tell you, though, that master mode is precisely what you need to, say,
create a performance or a mix and then access it with the touch of a button.

If I were live player, I'd probably be more familiar with this mode and
have more information to give you.

Perhaps you can see if you can find some information on the Motifator forum
about Master Mode. I have found in the past that Motifator has a lot of
good questions and answers there. I have learned much of what I know from
there.

HTH!

Most Sincerely,

Bobbi
