Yea, those midi sets are usually pritty good. I don't think sonar has
anything to do with it. It'll all depend on 1. Your hardware and what
drumset you are using, 2. the plug-in drums software and how it responds to
notes and midi message, variable cc numbers (for the high-hat open/close
status etc). Sonar merely passes the data back and forth.

I had a drummer set his V drums up, but we had issues with ghost notes when
he did a roll, or a fill. It sounded like a toy, so I just recorded the
audio output.

It was something about his triggers when hitting the head of the drum. It's
been a few years since I did this though. Another experience was with
someone I knew that had a cat, but he was able to adjust the velocities
within the module he was using.
