A little more on error rates:

Soft errors are sometimes called C1 or C2 errors. C1 errors are usually described using the term BLER or block error rate. The BLER is shown as an average error rate per second. The lower the number the better.

Once you burn a test copy that shows an acceptable error rate, a good way to test it for jitter or other problems is by conducting a "null test". In a null test two copies of the same file are added together with one at reverse polarity. That is, one is your burned copy, while the other is the master archived on the hard drive.
If the result is absolute silence, the files are identical.
