hi:
i have  1024 ram, jaws eight, and sonar 6.2.1
and i don't connect to the internet from this machine, don't have skype, on it, only
Avg, and i disable it when recording.

I'd say that disabling continuous metres isn't your problem. What is
your computer specifications? How much ram do you hae etc and what
version of jaws and sonar are you using. Also, if you don't mind the
rubbish speach, try using the sapi engine with jaws instead of
elequence. this tends to speed up the sonar process dramatically on my
slow computer. Also disabling antivirus software, skype and
disconnecting from the internet often helps. There are loads of other
things we can try to solve this but it helps to know your computer
details first.

Having written all this, I won't be able to offer any more assistance
til MOnday night a I'm going away so hope others solve things for you.
