Hi Neville. First, to get accurate results, you want to remove DC offset. Process Menu, DC Offset, then choose "scan entire sound file" from the list of presets.
Under statistics, the two lines to look at are RMS and maximum Sample. Maximum Sample is right above RMS.
Maximum is the loudest peak in your file. That should be fairly close to 0dB. RMS is somewhere below that, and represents the average loudness over time, over the length of your file. If it's something like -12 or -13dB, your file should sound quite loud to you, similar in perceived loudness to many commercial recordings.
