After choosing a format you have to check the encoder settings, it determines
how good or bad the file will sound. Most video encoders prefer image quality
over sound when compressing data, and are thus set up like that by default.

Here are the steps what I did:
Import an audio wave file in audio track.
Import a video WMV file in to sonar track.
Make sure audio and video playing and quality are ok. Then go to export, select
video and WMV file format .
The question is doesn’t matter which encoding option I choose (total 63
encoding selection) they’re all compressed after mixing. So, the sound quality
is bad. The original WMV file is 96Mb after mixing the WMV file tern to 21Mb.

OK, here are a couple of
ideas that may or may not help.
If audio quality with same audio interface was once good but now is horrible,
try the following:
Open your project in SONAR.
ALT+O for Options
Press down arrow until you
reach Audio Options and press ENTER
Make sure that the Playback Timing Master and Record Master are using the
drivers for your preferred audio interface.
Also, if you had
been using the Driver Mode of ASIO, check that setting under the Advanced tab
in that Audio dialog. Perhaps it somehow was changed to another driver mode.
