Hi folks, Every few years I go through a phase where I really think I should learn how to read and use braille music. I immediately backtrack thinking, 1. I've gone many years and had success in what I do without reading Braille Music. and 2. I only have two hands! Just recently I've been learning about Lime Aloud and have again been toying with the thought that maybe that would be what I need. I could study the music, listening to it, and, with the use of a Braille Display, (if I got Good feel,) learn to read it as well along with the other modalities. I've long composed music in my head but had no practical way of notating it. Here's my struggle. I do not own JAWS and studying music in 40 minute sperts with the last 10 or so minutes being pestered every few minutes and requiring a restart to use it again is NOT ideal. Does any one know of an accessible program similar to lime which NVDA would work with? I know I'm stepping in to dangerous territory here, but I'll just go out on a limb and say that I am an NVDA user because I cannot afford JFW and do not see the value in paying so much, on an ongoing basis, when a perfectly capable alternative exists ... until now. Since Good Feel and Lime Aloud are limited to use with JFW, it effectively makes them $1000.00 more with little to show for it over NVDA. And, on the other hand, while NVDA is a GREAT screen reader, and gives great access to almost everything, less affluent blind musicians are kept behind the velvet rope, if you will, since access to well designed music notation software is out of reach without JFW. I'm sure there would be some of us who would take DD up on their payment plan if the software worked with NVDA. In the mean-time, has any one had any success with NVDA and any other music notation options? Thanks! Rusty PLEASE READ THIS FOOTER AT LEAST ONCE!
