Hi Ramy, I've been using a Braille Lite 2000 AKA the Braille Lite 18 since 1997 and it has only been serviced three times, twice for battery replacement and once for Braille cell replacement. I would say that it is very stable and compact for travel. It connects to my computer via 9-pin serial cable, through which I can transfer files to and from my computer using the Braille Lite 2000. You can also use it as an external Braille display or synthesizer.Hope this helps Robert.

Hello, I have a pacmate bx 400, that is about 5 years old, and I
recently sent it off to get repaired, other than that, it works fine.
I also have a Pacmate qx omni, and its great too, but I like more the
bx version. Yeah sometimes it can be unstable. I noticed that you need
to reset it a lot in the winter, but that was when i was living up
north.
I no nothing of the braille light, so my oppinion may be a little
biest. I remember you posted something about wanting to read braille
or convert it.
One thing I do know is that if you connect just the pacmate
display to the computer via USB, it works flawlessly and fast. The 40
cell would be an advantage to you, and you would be able to use it to
read your braille music.

Hope this helped a little.

Hi all:

Now I'm so crazy, as I can't take a decision.
I have 2 things,
A braille lite 18 with good condicion, it's used here In Egypt, and I
tried
it with no problems. It's an old machine but it's small, and many people
said that it's a good machine from FS.
With the same price, I found a pac mate online, it's Pac Mate Omni BX400,
it was recondicioned on FS, with some cards, but I didn't see it because
it's not in my country at all.
And it's 40 cells of cores. But I hared bad things about pac mate and it's
stability and so on.
So what can I choose? Please please I am very new in these subjects and I
need your honest opinion.
Thanks
