You don't need to select the tracks.  Just highlight the midi track of the soft 
synth you want to freeze.

  I'm trying to use the frees synth command. 
  this is what I did. 
  1 I selected both the midi and the audio track from beginning to end. 
  2 I hit alt r then f for the frees options. 
  3 then I chose frees synth from the menu. 
  4 Then I hit enter. 
  It does frees it, but not completely.
  Any suggestions?  
  When I lissen to it, part of the track is missing.
