Hi DJX,

The two you mentioned are the best I've heard, I think the problem I have is
I'm a wanna be guitarist. I play a Keytar for part of my live show, it's the
Roland AX1 using external expansions as there are no sounds on board the AX1.

I thought Roland was going to impress with the new AX Synth, but it's not only
over priced at around £899 mark, it's also awful sounding with hardly any
guitar patches.

Roland and Yamaha really need to up there game, they are simply churning out
variations of the same old Keyboard technology from years gone by.

Roland have upped their game regarding guitarists and technology, The Roland
VG99 processor is brilliant for guitarist, creating all types of guitar sounds,
surely Roland could adapted so the virtual technology responded with say a
dedicated keytar Controller.

Stevie Wonder was over in the UK a Week or so ago, he played at Glastonbury (a
big music festival over here).
He started the show by playing a Keytar, he played it quite well,, but it
didn't have the guitar sound that someone of his legendry status deserves.

Maybe the guitar has too many sound variations to be created convincingly by a
keytar or the likes.

Hey Steve, have you played musicLab's realGuitar, RealLPC or RealStrat?
That's probably the most convincing guitar engine i've heard, specially when
ran through some good guitar fx pedals or plugs. If you've heard/used them,
what do you think of them?

  Hi Manny,

I don't think Phil will mind if I answer your question.

technology is getting close to capturing the sound of real drums and the way
they behave.
there are also very good bass guitar sounds on some of the expensive
softsynths, it's down to your understanding of drumming and bass playing to
whether you can make the drums and bass guitars sound believable.

We're miles away from capturing the versatility of a real guitar. I know this
because I can't play guitar and keep looking for convincing ones.

Phil is one of those musicians who plays many instruments at professional
standard, I'm sure the drums would be real if he had the right acoustic
sounding room to set them up in.

The guitars are real and the bass guitar is also real, however, he has a
digital wife that he simply plugs in and she sings in perfect pitch with auto
quantising.

I just can't help myself, I start off seriously enough? well, off to get my
brain defragged.
