Thanks Phil,

I knew I must have missed something and the obvious easy route wasn't going to
work? lol.

I just thought that once the video was imported, you may be able to insert a
couple of mesures at the beginning.

Thanks again Phil.

Steve. no you can't because the video and related audio is automatically
imported at 0.0.0 and there's nothing you can do about that as that's how sonar
works.

  Hi Phil,

forgive my ignorance, can't you just move the music project until it is in
sync with the video's audio?

I'll be looking at this shortly as work has started to slow down, my YouTube
clips are awful so that doesn't help matters.

Sounds like you have it all covered. Just to add that when you import the
video, you will need to first move the audio track from the video to where you
want it to sync up to the audio in the project. Locate the audio from the
imported video then, go into the event view and change the time in the column.
Then, close out the event view and select the track from that point to the end
and nudge the audio until it matches the audio in the project. Once you have
that working and the audio is synking perfectly, open up the event view of the
audio track from the imported video and locate the time column. Press the
enter key to obtain the values in that column and copy them. Then, go into the
video view and locate the time column then, update the time to where ever the
audio starts from the imported video in the project.

I'm not very clued up on video, your best bet would be to ask the master

I'm interested in synchronizing a video to one of my Sonar projects. I've
never done this before, but I assume the first step would be to download
the video from the video camera to my DAW: then import it into Sonar. I
read the lesson in CT on SMPTE, so I have a basic idea of how to go about it. I
will be working with a sighted assistant but I will only have the benefit
of her eyes because she knows absolutely nothing about Sonar. Any pointers you
can give me before shooting the video that will help make the sync process
easier? Robert.
