Steve wrote: They are tricky enough to get through certain doors when you can see, your hands can get trapped and the wait crushes them, believe me I did it with an 18 inch Celestion sub Speaker. Phil replied: bet that was a heavy sucker too! Planning to do as little carrying as possible. Have a trolley we can use for that. Steve wrote: It was back at the Shop the very next day, that's when I purchased the Mackie 15 inch (very punchy but not very warm sounding) I purchased the DB 15 inch sub because it sounded warm and couldn't quite afford the RCF 15 inch sub at the time. Phil replied: it's always a balancing act isn't it? Between what we can afford and what we would like? Steve wrote: The only time 18 will come into there own with the venues you are currently playing is if the DJ or support band have them. The chances are if they do have 18 inch subs they will be Peavey or something of that class, a 15 RCF will blow away a Peavey 18 inch sub. Phil replied: totally agree with you there. Steve wrote: The majority of your audience won't know the difference between a 15 or 18, shame to risk those talented hands. Phil replied: that's probably true. On the other hand, if your also looking at doing live PA for bands as we are then, we will probably have to go that route anyway. Also, cost wise, there's no difference. Will look at the size of the boxes and make the decision then.
