This is a pretty common problem. Many keyboards, including some laptop keyboards, won't accept more than one key being pressed at once. I wonder if you could get Perky Duck installed? That's a little Duxbury program that allows six key entry. Maybe someone on the list can tell you if that would be a good option and how to get it.
