I have a copy of DBT on my computer at work and one on my old
desktop here at home however the desktop died a rather sad death
nearly a year ago now. I thought I had DBT installed here on my
notebook however last night when I tried to work with a .DXB file
sent here from work I discovered I hadn't installed DBT. Tonight I
brought home the floppy diskettes to install, three of the four
appear to be in good condition however the first one with set-up on
it doesn't. The computer complains that the diskette is not
formatted and offers to do so for me. I also discovered then that
there isn't apparently a scandisk utility on XP pro. In fact neither
of the two usual disk utilities, defrag or disk cleanup can be
pointed to the USB floppy drive. I was hoping that a touch of the
old scandisk might render the diskette readable. All it wants to do
is format or not.
Unfortunately the materials I wanted to print are needed for my trip
to Houston tomorrow morning so that is out, I mostly just wanted to
rearrange it a little for embossing on my double sided printer here,
I can and will use the single sided copy I made at work. More
usually now I use the software that came with the Index D here at
home but only DBT recognizes the .DXB file.
Anyway, I believe this is version 10.2, it was purchased in December 1999.
Some day I will buy a newer version, I would really like to be able
to emboss directly from Word which is why I prefer the Index
software here but for now this will have to do!
The license disk and disks 2 and 3 appear to be fine. This has been
sitting on a shelf now for nearly 5 years tucked away in the binder.
Aren't CDs a wonderful improvement?
When I get back I will try touching it up with Scandisk at work but
I am not hopeful.
