Here are links to the rule about underlining column headings from BANA's Braille Formats: http://www.brl.org/formats/rule04.html#r4-5 http://www.brl.org/formats/rule08.html#r8-6 Note in particular that the separation line is to be used whether or not it is shown in print. You should know that having braille copy that is correctly formatted according to BANA rules is only of indirect help in determining how to format print documents according to the standards of a particular office or other organization. As I assumed the users of this list were aware, the intent of the BANA rules is to format the same items consistently in all braille documents, not to format them however they happen to be formatted in a particular print source. Print does not have universal formatting standards. If you are a braille reader tasked with formatting print documents according to the style requirements of a particular organization, you need a technical solution such as a stylesheet. I completely agree that this list is not the place to debate what we think of BANA rules or the rules of other Braille Authorities. If you care about these issues, you should contact the authorities, attend their meetings, etc. Sincerely, SusanJ * * * * This message is via list duxuser at freelists.org. * To unsubscribe, send a blank message with * unsubscribe * as the subject to <duxuser-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>.
