That’s really great info Matthew thanks for providing it.
We all need to work together as these machines become more and more advanced.

Subject: [duxuser] Re: Embosser problems
HI Terry, George,
Yes indeed. Starting with V4, the Index machines can emboss without any margin
at all. I'm really glad of this as it has some extremely useful applications,
e.g. when transcribing cards that need to be cut up after embossing, I can now
emboss a dashed line completely edge to edge, no empty space at either end of
the line.
However it does mean that leaving the "Top" and "Binding" margins in Duxbury
set at 0 will give less than optimal results under most normal conditions. With
11.5×11 paper and no margins, Index will allow 27 lines to the page and 48
cells to the line.
To get 25 lines×40 cells dead centre on 11.5×11 inch paper, you should set the
top margin to 1 and the binding margin to 4. This is because:
· 27 possible lines−25 desired lines = 2 lines spare, ÷2 = 1 at the top
and 1 at the bottom
· 48 possible characters−40 desired characters = 8 characters spare, ÷2
= 4 at the left and 4 at the right
N.B. Index does not have an option for bottom and right margins. Hence,
technically this gives a page length of 26 lines and a line length of 44
characters. However, this doesn't matter as Duxbury will only be sending 25
lines of 40 cells. The remaining 1 line and 4 cells will therefore effectively
be blank.
Hope this helps anyone else with the same issue.
Matthew

Hi Terry,
Could you please define the problem with the margins?
To high, too low, too far left or right?
George

Subject: [duxuser] Embosser problems
Good Morning,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with my embosser. I have a index
basic-d V5 printer. Everything prints out fine except the top and side margins.
Is this something I need to call Index Braille company about. I have the
manual but I don't understand how to fix the problem.
It is set on:
Global Embosser Set-up:
I am using 12.1 SR1 (waiting for the county to buy the upgrade)
Index V5
Interpoint
Form: 11.5 by 11 inches
characters per line 40
lines per page 25
Top margins in line 0
binding margins in character 0
Thank you so much in advance
Terry
