Amazing how someone posts an ex-competitors ad on the list and within 12 hours (or less) gets a response from Anne, Neal and George. We have been waiting slightly longer for a response to this topic (try 2 weeks). How about just making the Global embosser settings user-definable per embosser so each time it is selected in the document embosser set-up it drags in the RIGHT parameters (read user) rather than some useless factory pre-set. I know it is all supposed to be to do with embedding the embosser parameters in the saved file which works very nicely when re-loaded to do re-prints, but that doesn't explain why the global parameters won't stick. Please enlighten me ... 'cos, as usual, I've probably got it all wrong (I do that a lot you know):-) Alan PS I seem to remember all this coming up before and it was suggested as a fix to change emb.elt ... wouldn't it be better to fix the program rather than having the user try to do some RE-programming? ________________________________ From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Denise and Jim Sent: Friday, 10 February 2006 12:04 PM To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxuser] Re: Setting up more than one embosser Would like to hear suggestions also. This has just happened to me too! And I am having a dickens of a time making it stick. I am tempted to return to the old one just to avoid the headache. Every second counts this year in getting these materials out and fast! We have three identical embossers, and as soon as you change to a different one the document embosser settings default to 44, 27. If anyone has a solution that would be wonderful. My dilemma is: When trying to set up the Global Embossers I can have both embossers listed as Brailler Devices, but seem to be able to only set the Desired Braille Document Formatting on one of them - this one becoming the embosser of choice for new documents. As soon as I try changing the settings on another one, that one reverts back to the suggested settings which are nothing like we use. This means that everytime I want to select the other embosser in my Document Setup, I have to manually put in the Desired Document Formatting for that embosser. Can I globally set up more than one embosser with our Standard Parameters, so that I can then select either one in the Document Setup without having to check whether or not the line width, number of lines, top margin etc are correct.
