Wow Deb,

(I may need until Tuesday to think about this one. - Smile!)

First and foremost, a DBT Heading Style, as in h1., h2. and h3. is a
Paragraph Style, and cannot have text of a different style on the same
line immediately following it. The period after the Style name tells
you this.

You can't do it in Word, and you can't do it in DBT. So what do you do?

Now let me think. Sit down. O.K. Let's take it one stage at a time.

The example here is where you want to have bold text beginning in cell 3
as far as a colon. Text then continues on the same line and continues
after that in cell 1 for the rest of the paragraph.

Start a new blank document.

Go to the Document menu, and select New Style. For the purpose of the
exercise I am going to call it "h2sub" (No quotes and do not add a full
stop.) This will place it alphabetically in the Styles list under h2.

Now move to the Beginning Codes: text Box, and press Ctrl + left square
bracket.

Type ind3

This will cause text to start at cell 3

Now press the end key to make sure you are at the end of the line.
Press Ctrl and left square bracket again.

Type fts~b

This starts bold

Press Tab to go to the Ending Codes: Text Box.

Ctrl + left square bracket and then type

fte~b

This ends bold.

Press the end key to make sure you are at the end of this line, and type

inm1

This effectively says that as and when text next word-wraps onto a new
line, begin that line in cell 1.

Go down to the OK button and click it, saying "yes" to amending or
adding the new Style.

Now open a new document, and type,

George Bell: He is that idiot that got me into all this trouble in the
first place, so why I'm doing this I don't know.

Now go back and highlight "George Bell:" - don't forget to include the
colon.

Go to Layout, Apply Style, and select h2sub and click OK

Translate the document.

All things being equal, it will start in cell 2 with Bold text as far as
the colon, then revert to normal text, and when it goes on to a new
line, the new line will start in cell 1.

Am I right so far?

Let me know, and also tell me if you would want this style to appear in
the table of contents?

That's stage 2, and I'm afraid will have to wait until I get to Duxbury
next week.

Good luck,

George Bell.
