Hello Flor.

I have installed JAWS version 10 and am running it as a demo to find
out about how it works with DBT.

After I installed the JAWS script files for DBT into my settings for DBT 10,
DBT worked properly with them. But here's what doesn't seem to be working
properly. Normally, for DBT 10.6 and above, whenever you start DBT it
examines all versions of JAWS installed on your system. If DBT finds a
version of JAWS on your system without up-to-date versions of all the
supplied JAWS script files for DBT, then it prompts you about whether to
install them automatically. On my system, DBT 10.6 and DBT 10.7 are doing
that properly if JAWS script files for DBT are missing in my installation of
JAWS 9. But DBT is not prompting me in that way if the JAWS script files
for DBT are missing from my installation of
JAWS version 10. Also, even when I get prompted because of missing JAWS
script files for JAWS 9 and answer yes, DBT doesn't install them for JAWS 10
at the same time. It appears that in some way DBT is "not seeing" JAWS
version 10. Perhaps that is related to my running JAWS as a demo for now.
But I doubt that, since that has not been a problem when I've had earlier
versions of JAWS installed as the demo.

We'll have to look into why the automatic installation of the JAWS script
files for DBT is not working for JAWS version 10. But the other news for
now is that you can install those script files manually. One way to do this
is to merge your settings from an earlier version of JAWS, as you did, Flor.

Here's another approach. From My computer, open the folder in which DBT is
installed. Then open the folder within that called JAWS. Press Control+A
to select All the files, and then Control+C to Copy them into the Windows
clipboard. Then close the folder. Go to the Windows Start menu - All
programs - JAWS 10.0 - Explore JAWS - Explore my settings. That opens the
folder with your settings for JAWS version 10. Press Control+V to paste in
the Windows clipboard. You still need to compile these script files. With
JAWS version 10 running, highlight the file dbtw.jss and press Enter. That
opens dbtw.jss in the script file manager for JAWS version 10. Press
Control+S to save and compile and then Alt+F4 to exit.

Sincerely,
Caryn

Flor,

I'm using the public Beta release of JAWS 10, and the DBT scripts work
perfectly. You will have to merge your configuration from whatever version
you ran before you installed JAWS 10. Once you do that, everything should
work just as it did before.
