Even though you save the file as a Word file in Omni, it's really an rtf file as David says. The first clue that it's not really a doc file is when you try to open the file directly in DBT you get a Formatted Text (Windows) filter chosen vs. a Microsoft Word 6 or later filter. If you accept that filter, the second very obvious clue is as described ... all the rtf info. If you try to change it to the Word filter, DBT can't open the file. You'll need to open the file in Word and do a Save as to change it to a true Word doc (you'll see at that point that Word is seeing the file as rtf). Once you resave the document in Word, you won't have any trouble opening it in DBT. As an aside, I would encourage you to take the time to look at the file while you are in Word. Sometimes you'll find that taking this opportunity to do some minor clean up will save you time in the long run. My suggestion: save as a different file type **or** read the RTF file into Word, save as a Word file, and then have DBT read the Word file. Good luck. -- David Holladay At 08:39 AM 5/11/2006, you wrote: I am currently using OmniPage 15 pro. to scan documents to save in word 2000 on a windows xp system. I then open in Duxbury 10.5 and translate into braille. When I do this I get at least a page full of messy, no-meaning symbols intermixed with words and a lot of pars, tabs, \'s, lines written out. I edit out all of this and still end up with pieces of each document missing. Since I translate and prepare 50-100 pages a day this is killing me how can I fix this? I use a HP scanjet 5590.
