Good morning,

Thank you for bringing this up, Steve and Nadine. Some licensed users have indeed found that they are not able to run DBT 11.1 in evaluation mode unless they de-activate DBT 10.6 or DBT 10.7 temporarily during the evaluation period.

Those of you who have Windows Vista or Windows 7 may have to elevate to admin status to de-activate (and later re-activate) DBT by right-clicking on the DBT icon and choosing "Run as administrator" from the list. Then click Continue when Windows asks if you give permission.

Those of you with Windows XP can skip the above.

After that go to Help/About DBT and click the de-activate button while connected to the internet. When you next open the DBT 11.1 evaluation you should now have an OK button and you can use that to explore all the new features of DBT 11.1 and make a decision about whether to update to it.

If you decide to purchase it, you'll be able to activate DBT 11.1 once your update order is processed. If you decide not to update you'll be able to re-activate DBT 10.6 or DBT 10.7 and continue using that version once you are finished with the DBT 11.1 trial. To re-activate DBT 10.6/10.7 click the Activate button and choose the first activation method (if you have an internet connection) or the second/third method (if you don't have an internet connection or have a fire wall preventing contact with Duxbury's activation server). Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the activation.

By all means don't hesitate to get in touch with us directly (please see my signature below with our contact information) if you have any questions or need assistance with any version of DBT.

Best regards,

Nadine,

I had a similar problem, and reported it to Duxbury when I purchased my upgrade. It wasn't a big deal for me since I planned to upgrade anyway, but it appears that evaluation mode doesn't work as advertised, and Duxbury needs to know it.

Subject: [duxuser] Running DBT11.1 in evaluation mode

Hi all,

I downloaded the evaluation copy of DBT11.1 but can't get past the opening screen where it asks to either activate or cancel. I deleted my licence number from the box when I installed it but it still wants to either activate or cancel. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,
Nadine
