Hi Norma,

> I have DBT version 10.4, is there a way to extend the running head length?

The code used is detailed below, but let me try to explain in simpler terms.

By default, if we have our page width set to 40 Characters, DBT will center the
running header, leaving 8 characters on either side. Consequently this would
allow us a maximum Header of 24 characters.

However, if you want to increase this and page numbering is in use, you need to
ensure that there is sufficient space left to accommodate the largest page
number.

Unfortunately, because Running Headers are centered, the space left must be the
same on BOTH sides.

So, if we wanted to reduce the side room to 5 characters on either side,
(leaving 5 spaces for the page number), the code used would be:- [svrhs5:5]
This needs to appear BEFORE the Header codes [tls] & [tle].

There is a wrinkle worth noting. If you do NOT have page numbering in the
Running Header and/or Running Footer, you can use the Codes [svrhs0:0] for the
Header, and/or [svrfs0:0] for the Footer allowing you the full width of the
page.

[svrhsM:N] -- Set running-header sideroom. M sets the fixed amount of space
reserved on the left for the largest page number expected, and N for a similar
amount on the right. (Though specified separately for future compatibility
reasons, the two amounts are actually used only in their total, because running
headers are always centered.) The default is 8:8 (total 16). E.g. [svrhs5:5]
would reserve only 5 spaces on either side of the running header (10 total),
permitting a longer header to fit.
