I doubt that DBT is going to be able to handle everything you want to do, although you could do some hackish things such as declaring your index terms to be [ifprint] content, not to appear in the braille version. You may want to do some XSLT processing to prepare an XML version that is, for example, aligned with the NISO specifications.

For context, the style I'm looking at is one used to identify index terms. Perhaps as an author, I want to see this, perhaps even inline as it appears in the text. As a reader though, either I don't want to see it or I want to see it in the context of an index, not inline.

Any DBT-handling advice would be appreciated.
