Hi Juanita,

I can assure you that while some of Duxbury's staff might fall asleep on
the job (smile!), it is not the program itself.

There are two possible problems here. Though without knowing your
Operating System and specific set-up, it's much of a guess.

1) Your system is set up to go into some kind of either screen saving,
or Power Saving mode after a short period of inactivity. I have know
this sort of thing to cause problems in the past.

2) Your printer/embosser interface may not be set up correctly at the
PC end, or you could even have the wrong cable. Braille embossers are
slow in relative terms, compared to printers. So what could be
happening is that the PC is sending a huge chunk of data to the
embosser. If the data is very large, a signal is sent back from the
embosser to the PC to tell it to stop sending any more data until
further notice. Meanwhile, the embosser is embossing that data.

However, if the PC does not get any further communication from the
embosser after a given period of time, it might get the idea that the
job is no longer wanted, and decides to go to sleep on the job, so to
speak.

My initial suggestion for now, would be to disable any power saving or
screen saving features. See Control Panel, Display, Screen Saver, and
also Control Panel, Power Options.
