Hi Ray, You could have stated at the appropriate point of change - Delete--italicised text of original followed by Replace with--replacement text and finish with [end of replacement] if using ordinary text. It really comes down to personal preference I suppose! Warmest regards, John. -----Original Message----- From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ray Campbell Sent: 11 November 2008 15:21 To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: John Logan; Eric Cromey; William Bielawski Subject: [duxuser] Suggestions for Showing Changes in Document using DBT Hello All: Yesterdaqy, we were presented with a set of by-laws for our organization's Board of Directors. Our instructions were to show, in the by-laws document, the changes which were made. Let me tell you what we did and ask if anyone has other suggestions for what we could have done using Duxbury Version 10.6. What we did for each change was: If it was an addition of new language, we put an open bracket, followed by the word 'insert' followed by the new language followed by a closing bracket. For deletions, we put an open bracket, followed by the word 'delete', followed by the language being deleted, followed by a closing bracket. For places where language changed, we first put an open bracket, the word 'delete', the language being deleted, followed by a closing bracket. Then, we put an open bracket, followed by the word 'insert', followed by the new language, followed by a closing bracket. This resulted in notations with brackets around them in several places in the document. We will be asking our Board's Braille readers how they like what we did, however, I would like to know if anyone has suggestions of other techniques we could have used to clearly show the changes that were made in Braille within the document. For example, we could have put the changes in italics, but how would a user of the document know what the italicized text represents?
